as Eid continues

The problem with a 6 day holiday is finding new species to photograph as repetitive visits to certain sites are essential and as a consequence, encounters with certain species, even individual birds are guaranteed.

quietish weekend

Permalink 15:48:02, Categories: Observation by Howard

On Friday I took out visiting birder John Walker and bumped into Jem and Nicol who were ringing but still we all didn't see a great deal in the way of new species.
On Saturday I just went to Hamalah and the experiemental Farm which was also still quiet but I did get a few photos

The Marsh Harriers at Alba and Hamalah are still around so it was a real delight to find a rather tame Pallid that allowed close approach for a change

Sadly none of the European Bee-eaters presented themselves for a photo opportunity so had to make do yet again with bluecheeked

a great weekend of birding

Permalink 23:34:35, Categories: Observation by Howard

although it was very hot I really enjoyed this last weekends birding more for the quality of birds seen rather than the number of species which remains small.

Wryneck this bird just popped out on to a fence line and sat there - a difficult species to see at the best of times just goes to show how luck plays a big part in photography
