Adults
and then juveniles spent a lot of time simply perched head to wind on
the numerous rocky outcrops around Hawar. Easy prey on such perches for
Sooty Falcons Falco concolor particularly
in June, July and August when passerines and small waders are scarce
Sooty Falcons simply pluck them off the rocks by diving on them from
above and behind. Remains
of no other tern species was found around Sooty Falcon nesting sites.
Note the dark chocolate brown hue to what appears often in flight to be
a black bird
