The
breeding Island here seen from its southern tip looking north has been
checked every year since but no further incidence of colonial breeding
has been observed. The behaviour of the birds in the 1998 colony was
totally
unlike the strict territorial behaviour of our resident birds. At the
colony attempts to photograph the birds by both myself and Dr. Mike
Hill were always thwarted by the birds even when using a hide. They
apparently can count when we left the hide empty they would return to
their nests, attempts to deceive them otherwise by us always failed. We
never got a decent photograph.
