By mid September large numbers of birds start to occupy Suwad Al Janubiyah - they make no attempt to build nests - days are spent standing around, bathing and fishing - these activities are undertaken communally resulting in large movements of birds similar to those that were a common sight during the summer months from the roosting locations  -   estimates of numbers reportedly seen during these massed movements however are often widely exaggerated
