Each year new material, pieces of timber from the flotsam line, sticks, dead plants etc. is collected and added to the rim of the platform and the centre is lined by a variety of materials. All material added is done so constructively there appears to be nothing haphazard about the building or maintenance of a nest despite its external appearance
