The
southern shore line of the Rubuds has a deceiving appearance, the dense
lush coastal vegetation appears to spread out on to the beach, however
what appears to be sand is in fact an algol matt covering what can be
very deep algol peat - thick gooey smelly mud. The strength of the
crust can be deceptive as is often covered further, by deposits of
seagrass detritus that constantly washes ashore and forms the mass of
the decaying vegetation, it does not support a persons weight.
